ALONG THE NORTH RIDGE

Tagliaferro is an exceptional alternative to the Monte Rosa 4000 meters peaks. Despite its modest altitude (a bit less then 3000m) it offers great views in a very wild environment and an amazing climbing of a premium class rock quality.
From the summit the view is magnificent and unique on the massif of Monte Rosa and the deep surrounding valleys. The North Ridge is one of the most beautiful, challenging and aesthetic ridge of the area. It offers a fun climbing with many steps up to IV ° and the dreaded step called "The slab" up to grade V°. It’s often possible to encounter flocks of steinbocks.

Climb to the top
Meeting with the Mountain Guide at 6 o'clock in Alagna Valsesia. After the check of the equipment we’ ll walk up along the Mud Valley up to 2381m. From there begins an easy climb perfect for a good warm up. Then the steps become more demanding and exposed. After “the Slab” in few steps you will be standing close to the Madonnina on the top. Enjoy the amazing view from the most isolated peak close to Monte Rosa. The way down is along the regular route.

TECHNICAL INFO: The climb to Tagliaferro along the North Ridge begin with an easywalk approached through a comfortable trail up to Mud Col 2381m. Here begins the ridge: the first 100 meters are very easy and then became steeper along many steps up to grade III° and IV°. “The Slab” can be crossed on the west side. The way down is along the steep regular route on the opposite side.
The accompaniment of two participants will be decided by the Guide in according to their experience, and technical skills.
