From the 20th to the 24th of March 2024
Formazza Bedretto Haute Route is an alternative tour among the classics of the Alps. The area is not so famous but beautiful for ski mountaineering.
We propose a great itinerary crossing through Val Formazza, Val Bedretto and Val Corno between the north of Piemonte and the south Switzerland. In 5 days we climb the highest and most important peaks of the area, characterized by great views on the Oberland Bernese.

Travel Program
Climb Mount Basodino m 3272
Leaving from Riale 1728 m (Valley Pomatt), towards Toggia Valley up to Kastel Lake. From there through a steep slope we reach Basodino Glacier. From here, crampons on, we climb an easy mixte ridge to the top of Mount Basodino (3272 m). With a beautiful descent on the Swiss side we reach the Capanna Basodino (1856 m). Dinner and overnight.
Ascent 1546 m, Descent 1420 m - 6 hours
Cross Basodino Hut - Piansecco Hut m 1964
From the hut up to Lago Bianco (2077 m) and from there to Cima di Lago (2833 m). Skiing down on the opposite side we arrive in Cavagnolo Valley crossing Valleggia Glacier. From here through beautiful slopes we reach the small village of All' Acqua (1614 m). Skins on again we reach in about 1 hour Piansecco Hut (1964 m). Dinner and overnight.
Ascent 1327m, Descent 1210 m - 6 hours
Climb Pizzo Rotondo m 3192
From the hut through steep slopes we reach Passo Rotondo (2764 m). From there we go up to the base of Parete Rossa (2940 m) and climbing the last steep couloir crampons on, we reach the summit of Pizzo Rotondo (3192 m). Amazing descent on the same way and crossing of Corno Valley to the hut ( 2338 m). Dinner and overnight.
Ascent 1210 m, Descent 860 m - 6 hours
Climb Blindenhorn m 3378
Leaving from the hut we rise whole Corno Valley up to the top of Blindenhorn (3252 m) . Descent on the opposite side to Claudio e Bruna hut (2713 m). Dinner and overnight.
Ascent 915 m, Descent 550 m - 5 hours
Climb Punta d'Arbola m 3235 and back to Riale
From the hut crossing to Sabbioni Glacier. From there through steep slopes we reach Punta d’Arbola (3235 m). From the summit we start skiing along Passo di Lebendun (2732 m) and Vannino Valley until the village of Ponte (1280 m) Totally almost 2000 m down !!!! Car transfer to Riale (15 min).
Ascent 800 m, Descent 1955 m - 8 hours

THE PRICE INCLUDES :. Support and assistance of a U.I.A.G.M. certified Mountain Guide, all the technical equipment in common use, reservation to the huts and logistics, rental of technical equipment if you need (harness, crampons, ice axe, snow beep).
THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE: Transfert costs, half board in the Huts. Guide’s half board will be shared by participants. Injury insurance.
