ALONG THE REGULAR ROUTE
From mid June to mid September
Castore is the highest peak among the two Twin peaks called Pollux and Castore. It is located on the boarder ridge between Italy and Switzerland. The regular route through the Quintino Sella Hut and the Felik Pass it’s very easy.
The final ridge is very panoramic. Even if it’s not too exposed it’s better if you stay focused on your steps. From the top you can appreciate an amazing view covering all the west part of the Alps included Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
Travel Program
Staffal - Quintino Sella Hut m 3580
Meeting with the Mountain Guide in Staffal at 13:30. After the check of the equipment you ‘ll take the cable car in direction of Passo della Bettaforca; from there you’ ll start to walk along the trail in direction of the Rifugio Q. Sella. The last part of the trail goes along a ridge equipped with fixed rope. Overnight at the Hut.
Walk up 860m , 3 hours walking
Climb to the top and back to Staffal
Departure around 6:00 o'clock. The beginning is quite gentle along the Felik Glacier giving you the opportunity to warm up. At 3850 m, after a good rest, we’ ll start to climb up this 100 meters steep about 40° untill the Felik pass. From there we’ ll go on along the border ridge until the top of Castore. The way down is on the same way until Bettaforca

TECHNICAL INFO: the regular route has no particular difficulty. During the first day the last part of the trail to the hut goes along a ridge equipped with fixed rope; the second day the trail it’s 100% along glacier: after 1 hour warming we’ ll meet the steep slope below the Felik pass (40°) and after, the last part of the snowy ridge, goes on the top. Sometimes this part can be a bit narrow and icy, but normally there is a very good foot trail.

THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE: round trip cable car (Staffal/Bettaforca), half board to the Hut. Guide’s lift ticket and half board will be shared by participants, injury insurance
