BRECHE DE ROLLAND – MONTE PERDIDO – VIGNEMALE

A trekking in the central part of Pyrenees park. These mountains divide Iberian Peninsula from the rest of Europe and many of its biggest peaks are located in the central part: among other Monte Perdido, third highest peak of Pyrenees.

Our path will go through wild valleys, across the border between France and Spain where waterfalls, pastures, glaciers, conifer and beech woods, grasslands and screes create an amazing, unique landscape.

1stDay

Flight Milano – Lourdes – Refuge du Clot

Flight from Milan to Lourdes. Bus transfer to Pont d’Espagne (1460m) and short walk (20min) to the Refuge du Clot (1522m).

2ndDay

Refuge du Clot – Refuge Baysallance

We’ll walk through the valley of Gaube and, in 2h and a half, we’ll get the refuge Oulettes de Gaube (2151m). After a short brake we’ll hike up Hourettes d’Ossoue pass and continue to the refuge of Bayssallance (2651m).

3rdDay

Ascent of Mount Vignemale – Refuge Baysallance

We’ll wake up pretty early, in order to climb Mount Vignemale, one of the highest peak of Pyrenees. We’ll spend the night at refuge Baysallance.

4thDay

Refuge Baysallance – Refuge Bujaruelo

We’ll walk down Ossoue valley to the Barrage d’Ossoue (1839m), where we’ll start climbing up in order to get Cabane du Lordes first (1936m) and, later, col de la Bernatoide (2338m). From here we start the long descent which will lead us to the refuge Bujaruelo (1340m).

5thDay

Refuge Bujaruelo – Refuge Goriz

A short transfer of 10 km by car will take us at the bottom of Ordesa Valley, where we’ll begin the walking to refuge Goriz (2200m). This path is really spectacular: the traverse on the Faje de Pelay, the famous Circo de Soaso and the beautiful waterfall “Cola de Caballo”.

6thDay

Monte Perdido

From refuge Goriz we’ll climb Monte Perdido (3355m) passing by Lago Helado. We’ll come back to refuge Goriz, where we’ll spend the night.

7thDay

Refuge Goriz - Gavernie

We’ll hike from the refuge toward the Breche de Rolland (2807m) and, across this huge breach in the ridge that divide Spain and France, we’ll walk down a small glacier, pass by the refuge de la Breche (closed) and finally get Gavernie (1380m).

Elevation gain 800m/loss 1550m, 6-7h

8thDay

Lourdes – flight back to Italy

Bus transfer to Lourdes and flight back to Italy.

WHAT’S INCLUDED: Support and assistance of a certified UIAGM Mountain Guide, all transfer in the program, full board during the trekking: packed lunches and half board in the refuges (are included the dinner of the first day and the breakfast of the last one). Gears in common. Transfer from the refuge Bujaruelo to the car park of Pradera by taxi or bus. Halfway we can get supplies and, if needed, clean clothes from a support vehicle.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED: Flights ticket, meals and drinks during the flight, personal equipment, other optional insurance (high mountain injury, travel cancelation), everything is not mentioned in “WHAT’S INCLUDED”.
