WHAT IS A YURTA ? : yurta is the tipic home of the nomad people of Mongolia, Kazakystan and Kyrghyzistan. It’s made of 3 main parts: a carrier wooden skeleton, a thick layer of sheep's wool as insulation and the internal and external coating of thick wool rugs that seal up the structure. In the center there is the brazier, which in a few minutes makes the indoor temperature very comfortable. Apart from the small opening on the roof of the chimney, the only other opening is made from the entrance door that is always facing south.
CLIMATE AND SNOW CONDITION: The climatic conditions of the country are similar throughout the area, with hot summers and cold winters. Thanks to this condition we can find dusty snow for long time. It is rare that low atmospheric pressure stays for a long time.
In the areas we will explore the quality of the snow is unique, very deep and dry. It is common to sink more than 50 cm. It is therefore recommended to have with us fat skis (Minimum 100mm under the boot).
